V de Valenzuela 2022

Vigiriega was a grape recovered from extinction by Manuel Valenzuela in 1983 and, thanks to this, today it is the most planted in the entire region. However, as it is outside the DO, the variety cannot be mentioned on the label.

If we look at it, at the bottom of the image there are some adjectives that describe it and whose initials form its name, Vigiriega. There is also a play on words, V for Vigiriega, V for Valenzuela, and V for Vendetta. ;-)

Vineyards at 1,300 m altitude. Slate soils, poor and stony.

Vinification: destemming, direct pressing and aging in barrels (60%) and stainless steel (40%) for approximately 1 year. Bottled in November 2023.
