PARTIDA CREUS,
Spain, Tarragona
Partida Creus winery is located in Bonastre in the Baix Penedès region in Tarragona. Antonella Gerosa and Massimo Marchiori are the two Italian architects who decided to leave their careers and busy life in Barcelona to invest more of themselves in doing something deeply related to the land. In addition to wine they also produce vegetables, fruits, olive oil and grains. Their concern has always been to produce top quality goods in order to feed themselves which is the motto behind Partida Creus.
The idea to start a winery only came once they started producing more than they could actually drink themselves. The wines are made from ancient local varieties from mostly abandoned vineyards, choosing parcels that have old, low-yielding vines that their neighbors would replace with more famous varietals. Vines are farmed organically and the wines are of course made naturally, using indigenous yeasts, no additions, fining or filtration is made. It all lets the wine express the terroirs and keeps honest to the varieties.
