GISMONDI
Italy, Campania
Antonio Gismondi is the 10th generation growing wine in his family. Together with his wife Anabel, they cultivate 3 hectares of vineyards in Cerreto Sannita in Benevento, Campania, a couple of hours drive up in the hills from Napoli.
They initially moved to Catalonia and started a pizzeria in Bonastre where they met Antonella and Massimo from Partida Creus and fell completely in love with natural wine. They went back to the family vineyard in Cerreto Sannita and 2016 it was Massimo who gave the final approval when they presented their first attempt to make their own natural wine. The first official vintage is from 2019.
The family’s vineyards are situated in the Benevento mountains at around 350 meters altitude and are facing south and south-west. The soil consists of limestone and clay and is quite mountainous and rocky. The vineyards are around 30 years old and are planted with Malvasia di Candia, Falanghina, Sangiovese, Merlot and a little bit of the grey variety Trebbianno Rossa.
