DOMÍNIO VICARI
Portugal, Torres Vedras
Dominio Vicari is a family farming project in Monte Belo do Sul, located in the heart of the Serra Gaúcha wine region in Brazil and Maxial in the Lisbon wine region of Portugal led by Lizete Vicari and her son, the winemaker José Augusto Vicari Fasolo.
Focused on the production of spontaneous fermentation wines with minimal intervention and without the use of oenological inputs, the project was born in 2007 in Praia do Rosa in Santa Catarina.
In 2018, José Augusto was invited to work on a project to convert a vineyard to organic and natural winemaking in Portugal. After being enchanted by the Atlantic terroir of Torres Vedras, Lizete and José acquired in 2019 an old winery in the village of Maxial in Torres Vedras, located about 40 km from Lisbon and just 10 km from the sea. As of October 2020, the project becomes responsible for the conversion and vinification of a small vineyard of Tinta Roriz and Castelão, around 800 plants in the 2021 harvest produced close to 4000 kilograms of grapes.
In this way, Dominio Vicari has been producing natural vinification wines both in Brazil and Portugal makinf soulful wines.
Unique wines made with artisanal processes, an absolute accompaniment and produced uniquely with wild yeasts, no clarification or filtration, no use of wood and never adding sulfur dioxide to express the full potential of the grapes.
