Mon Eurydice 2016
La Coulée d’Ambrosia - Jean-Francois Chéné
White - Loire/Anjou
Natural | Biodynamic | No sulfites |
Chene's wife, Joanna, said, "It would be nice to have a wine that tastes like between Panier de Fruit and Rode Vigne," and 2016 was the first vintage of this cuvée.
This chenin is grown on clay and shist soil. About 20 and 45 years old. After direct pressing, it is fermented and aged for about 24 months in old barrels used for Orionides in order to avoid the formation of an acid film during aging, and to preserve the minerality and fruitiness and harmonize with the depth derived from the barrel.
It has a golden color and fruity aromas reminiscent of plums, apricots, apples, pineapples, with a slightly fuller fruity aroma such as white raisins and dried apricots, plus faint caramel and iron-like aromas.
It's a wine that makes you think of freshness, and the fruity flavor of apple and pineapple confiture with a moderate sweetness, and the fruity acid that gives it a relaxed impression.
The Etiquette is reminiscent of the love story of Orphéus and Eurydice from Greek mythology. Orphéus is a person who charms people and animals with his harp instrument, and Eurydice is his wife, who one day lost her life after being bitten by a poisonous snake and Orpheus tried to bring her back from the dead with his enchanting music.
And just like Orphéus music harp, this wine will captivate us.
